Golden Globes and how they screwed themselves over

Bad news to some and good news to others, The golden globes are getting cancelled. let me explain to you why it's getting cancelled. Well, one of the main reasons is the backlash for the lack of diversity in nominees as well as the selection committee. here are some stats for you.

HFPA( Hollywood Foreign Press Association) consists of 87 members total and NONE of them are black😲.

I think that itself is enough reason to boycott it.

2022 NBC broadcast has been officially cancelled by the network, marking a pivotal moment in the long history of protest, criticism, and boycotts against the show and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association that runs it. For some, the cancellation may have come as a shock. But the recent boycott movement against the Golden Globe Awards is just the latest development in a decades-old string of lawsuits and callouts.

This means that this shit has been going on for decades!!!🤦‍♀️.

Honestly I wont be bothered if the Golden Globes go away, because award shows should not be about pleasing snobby critics, it should be about appreciating the artform which the globes have spectacularly failed in. Don,t believe me?. Here are some examples.

1. I May Destroy You

This is arguably one of the best shows right now, but guess what it was snubbed. Michaela Coel took the world by storm with the release of I May Destroy You, from HBO and BBC, which delivered a bold, nuanced look at the aftermath of sexual assault and trauma. Based on Coel’s own experiences, the series challenged how society treats victims of sexual violence and offered an empathetic portrayal of healing. The show garnered widespread praise from critics, launched Coel into stardom, and sparked a larger cultural discussion about surviving sexual violence and how to depict it. Supporting actors Weruche Opia and Paapa Essiedu also earned deserved praise. However, Coel, the costars, and the series as a whole were completely shut out of Globe nominations this year. But did you know who did get nods EMILY IN PARIS!!! which was just problematic in all.

2. Minari

This was an amazing movie, PERIODT. Steven Yeun gives a tender, heartbreaking performance in Minari as Jacob, a persevering father chasing the American Dream after he and his Korean-American family relocate to Arkansas to start a new life. Yet, Yeun received no actor nod.

Based on Korean-American director Lee Isaac Chung's own upbringing, the film received only one nomination.

3. Judas And The Black Messiah

This was a beautiful film which showed the struggle of Black revolutionists and they didn't get the recognition it deserves. Honestly this is what you get when your committee is full of old white dudes who don't get the need of diversity.Shaka King’s Judas and the Black Messiah—which premiered this week at the Sundance Film Festival and arrives to HBO Max next Friday—received nods for only best actor, Daniel Kaluuya, and original song. Kaluuya’s thundering portrayal of Black Panther chairman Fred Hampton undoubtedly deserves the nomination, but other cast members were left in the dark, like LaKeith Stanfield, who captures the internal conflict of FBI informant Bill O’Neal, and Dominique Fishback, who shines as activist and Hampton’s partner, Deborah Johnson.

I think that concludes that if you ignore the lack of diversity it comes back and BITES YOU IN THE A**. So you better watch out HFPA.
