Legends Live Forever- SPB
You know something? Legends never die, they live on forever in the masterpieces they have left behind. There are many talented artists but only a few turn out to be legends. One such person is Sripathi Panditaradhyula Balasubrahmanyam or the great SPB. Our parents grew up with his songs and they won't ever stop listening to it. I first listened to his songs when i was 10 but to this day his voice just sucks me into this blissful world of music.
S.P. Balasubrahmanyam was born on 4th June 1946 in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. Balasubrahmanyam developed an interest in music at an early age. He joined college with the aim of becoming an engineer but discontinued studying due to typhoid. He continued to pursue music and made his debut as a playback singer on 15th December 1966 with Sri Sri Sri Maryada Ramanna a Telugu film by his mentor S.P. Kodandapani.
He has won many awards in his career and it is said that he held the Guinness World Record for recording the highest number of songs by a singer. He has recorded over 40,000 songs in 16 languages and believe it or not he recorded 21 songs in Kannada for the composer Upendra Kumar in just 12 hours. In addition, he recorded 19 songs in Tamil and 16 songs in Hindi in a day, and this is also another great record by him. Apart from singing he has even acted in many films and has been the music director for many films too.
1) Vaa Venila Unnathane (Tamil)
2) Sundari (Tamil)
3) Ithu Oru Ponmalai (Tamil)
4) Nenjil Kanjabaanam (Malayalam)
5) Thei Oru Thenavayalam (Malayalam)
6) Pehla Pehla Pyar (Hindi)
7) Bahut Pyar Karte Hai (Hindi)
8) Aadedi Nenura (Telugu)
9) Balapam Patti (Telugu)
10) Jotheyali (Kannada)
S.P. Balasubrahmanyam died on 25th September 2020. I just wanna say music is not defined by how old it is or how recent it was released, if it's good it is evergreen. Even though he grew old his voice never lost the wonder. He has given his entire heart and soul in every song he has ever sung. Even if he's gone we will all remember him through his songs . From Jammu and Kashmir to Kanyakumari everyone will miss him, so we wrote a tribute to the person whose songs brought a smile to people, The Legendary SPB.
