Janmashtami special: Janmashtami through the eyes of a teenager!

Hey guys! Happy Janmashtami! Hope you all enjoy this auspicious festival with your family. Hold up.

What is Janmashtami?

Well, it is the festival celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna, one of Vishnu’s many incarnations. Who is Krishna you ask? He is the “Fun” God. The most human God yet so serene people around him worshipped him and were playful with him. He wasn’t like the justice driven God Ram or like any of the other Vishnu incarnations.

He was the most playful, naughty and trouble-making god which made him one of my favorite folklores. There are many folklores and songs written about him making trouble like stealing butter or playing pranks on the villagers. He was one of the most artistic ones too. When he danced the whole village danced with him, When, he played the flute everybody stood mesmerized by the sweet melody. He is as sweet as a melody but also fierce as the sun.

He also had two sets of parents, one gave birth to him while the other raised him, But he always loved them equally which is one quality I really admire. He also blessed us with the Bhagwath Gita which in my opinion is one of the best pieces of literature ever written. It not only talks about religion but talks about the importance of honesty in our life and guides us to live an ethically right life. It is used by ethics professors to this day.

These are few of the many feats achieved by Lord Krishna.

What I’ve covered here is just a drop in a vast ocean.

When reading these folklores, we often overlook the ethical

lessons that we so desperately need in the world we’re living now. Now I can’t promise you if all these exist that is your faith but I assure you the lessons taught through these are very much real.

So, on this Janmashtami try reading the Bhagavath Gita or the Mahabharata, who knows it might just help you out.

  2. Thoughtful writeup on a special day. Krishna is more than god but friend to many. Most versatile and adorable incarnation of lord Vishnu. Bhagavatam is a concise collection of Srimad Bhagavad Gita. A great read.
Keep writing. This would be inspiring many hesitant writers of genz to come out
